Our teams have Product Management, Devs, and UX all working together every day.


What Type of Tech Manager is Spark Networks Looking For?

As an Spark Networks Tech Manager, you should be a person that cares about people and their development, knows how do drive a performance-based culture, lead from the front tech-wise, and can introduce and tweak processes and methodologies.

We like to have employees pushed and challenged in constructive ways, and have teams really feel like they’ve achieved something.

We also care about people having fulfilled careers, and oriented towards the correct problems.

Experience either with subscription, or feature revenue business models, and / or running across countries and brands is something we are looking for in terms of experience, though will make allowances for exceptional candidates. The Tech Manager, along with Product, will own team and platform improvements and will be accountable for delivery of that. We are aiming to have teams fully cross functional with team members having more than a single functional discipline.

You will really understand what it means to run teams that build high availability, scalable applications.

We are looking for Tech Managers who are proficient in teaching and leading by example, and mentoring both junior and senior engineers, which means really knowing a lot about running platforms to scale. Automated acceptance testing, and continuous deployment is also important to us.

Our aim is to empower developers to decide the right tool for the job, so you should be very comfortable doing this too. We have a lot fun discussing the merits of different technology and we want you to lead these conversations, and, as is sometimes necessary, make a decision when required.

You also may be an expert on thinking critically about potential solutions and are able to teach others on this subject.

For example, knowing when to buy instead of build, or pointing out complexity or errors that the team may have not considered when looking at a particular solution, and if it may rarely be required to make executive decision to get the teams to the right conclusion.

As our company offers platforms all over the world and has lots of different nationalities, we made English our company language.

Your English skills should be sufficient to have day to day conversations and read this job description.

The team size you'll be managing is around 7 or 8 people.

Here’s a Bunch of Tech We Are Currently Using

Everyone’s favourite question: what’s your tech stack? Well, basically, it’s whatever is the right tool

for the job. Some tech includes: Spring Boot, node.js, rabbitMQ, git, SASS, react, CSS3 and HTML.

We are currently moving our main platform to AWS from our own infrastructure right now. For our new platform, we're using Kubernetes and Docker on AWS
